Day 48. Ukraine DAO Trucks Fleet.
Пост присвячується Захисникам Маріуполя а також нашому водію Олександру ❤️
- Dad, are you ok?!
- Yes, why?
- I just saw the news about the air strike.
- Yeah I just heard it here in real life... Don’t worry we don’t have too many of those today! Also, I’ve noticed a really weird thing. When the air raid siren goes off and there is no explosions, it’s kinda anxiety-provoking. But when it’s going off and I can hear the explosions, for some reason, I don’t feel scared. It’s a bit counter-intuitive, right? The human mind is so weird, Alona.
Before the invasion, we had 30 operational trucks that were mostly being used for commercial purposes. As I mentioned in this blog before, even after the 24th Feb my parents’ plan was to stay in our hometown.
After russian shelling started a fire at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, I managed to convince them to move to Western Ukraine where they are now delivering humanitarian aid into Ukraine. Initially they took 8 trucks, drivers and the accountant with them. We struggled a lot to find drivers for the remaining 22 trucks, because a lot of our usual drivers went to defend Ukraine against the russian invasion.
Yesterday dad told me amazing news - they’ve now found enough drivers for the remaining trucks. These drivers are not in the Army due to either age or health reasons but they are doing incredible work making sure Ukrainian people do not face food shortages and have all the humanitarian supplies they need. 8 trucks carry humanitarian aid from across the border and 22 (!) more are operating within Ukraine.
One of the Ukraine DAO trucks went into the war zone the other day to deliver food to people in the Kharkiv region. Our driver Oleksandr is an absolutely badass person for doing that. I haven’t spoken to him about that journey but pretty sure he would’ve rated it 0/5 on TripAdvisor.
How can I support Ukraine DAO Trucks ?
They have everything they need except for funds for operational expenses - most importantly, for refuelling the trucks. You can help with that through a bank transfer, Ethereum or Paypal donation ❤️ We are incredibly grateful for all the generous donations we’ve received so far - special thank you to Matt from Texas this week!
