Day 64. Ukraine DAO Update.
"The task before us is to align money with the true expression of our gifts." - Charles Eisenstein
Hey everyone!
In this Ukraine DAO Update, we’ve got good news about some of our project management tools, updates on what we’ve been doing in the media, and lots of info on how our DAO culture and structure have been evolving.
Asana and Notion give Ukraine DAO contributors free licenses
Asana and Notion have both been great tools to help us organise the efforts of Ukraine DAO. Asana is a work management platform where we can create tasks and track workflow, while Notion is a project management tool where we’ve been able to house important DAO documents and and share important resources about Ukraine externally.
Within the last few days, we’ve been very grateful to learn that both Asana and Notion have given Ukraine DAO free licenses to keep up our work on their platforms! This will go a long way in helping us to keep getting things done and having the impact we want.
Huge thank you to both Asana and Notion for their support of Ukraine and Ukraine DAO ❤️
By the way, Asana is making special efforts to support other nonprofits and NGOs working to provide humanitarian assistance for Ukraine. They can offer a subscription to Asana Business for qualifying organisations that are new or current Asana Basic customers.
Check out this Ukraine Relief License Support form if your organisation is helping Ukraine and wants to apply for an Asana Business license.

Updated Ukraine DAO Fundamentals
We’ve been putting in tons of time lately defining (and then refining) the Fundamentals that should shape our DAO’s culture and actions.
Recently, we drafted our 5 core Values to better represent what makes Ukraine DAO stand apart: Conviction, Humility, Open Communication, Humour, and Ownership.
These Values are what keep us on track towards our Mission: to help defend Ukraine from the russian invasion; counter russian propaganda and amplify Ukrainian voices; and help rebuild Ukraine after the war.
Check out more on each of these aspects of our Fundamentals at the Ukraine DAO Fundamentals page.
Another great resource on a related topic: one of our partners, Power Inside, has just sent us a very useful article on Holacracy - a method of decentralised management and organisational governance, including a lot of insights we’ve already incorporated in Ukraine DAO. It’s called “What Can DAOs Learn from Holacracy? (Part I)” by Demetria R. Giles
We encourage everyone curious about DAOs to check it out.
Pod (Working Groups) Leads
By now you might have picked up that we’ve been thinking a lot about our organisational structure at Ukraine DAO. We want to improve on what we already have now, and one way we’ll do that is to have various working groups (Pods) that govern themselves autonomously - as long as their activities are in line with the DAO's Fundamentals & Culture.
Some examples of Pods in Ukraine DAO are: Fact-Checking, Culture & Onboarding, Translators & Editors, Devs & Backend. We will publish detailed info about them next week.
Every Pod will have a Pod Lead, which will basically be the first point of contact for anyone joining a particular Pod. Pod Leads will be people that consistently show up and are great fits with our Fundamentals. Pod Leads will also represent their Pods on the DAO level while making a DAO-wide decision/agreement. Also, Pod Leads will communicate key decisions/agreements from the DAO level to the Pods.
Most importantly, Pod Leads will be helping people onboard and start contributing, and will facilitate work rather than being "bosses" within those groups. We’re really excited about how these Pod Leads will improve the way we work together. Please note that Ukraine DAO is still a very young organisation and the framework described above may change as Ukraine DAO develops.
Want to join one of the Pods? Fill out Ukraine DAO’s Volunteer Form.
Currently in development:
1) FAQ page - among other things, it will include detailed information about what we need help with the most, how to leave your contacts, where you can ask for help, etc.
2) Ukraine DAO Structure - a page setting out what Pods (working groups) we have, who are active contributors & Pod Leads in them, what every Pod has achieved so far etc.
3) Ukraine DAO's Partners and Friends page.
