This is a great service and gives me a great insight into the Russian nationalist mindset. It makes the actions of Russia make a little more sense.
It seems they conflate any sense of "Ukrainian identity" with fascism and tie it back to WW2 Ukrainian fascism (aka Banderites). So any Ukrainian who thinks of themselves as not an extension of Russia is automatically a Nazi and committing genocide of the Russian people.
Yeah, it looks like the Russians have lost their mind momentarily and it's going to take a while before they can be good members of the international community. I don't think there's any room for "peace talks" at the moment and we should do all we can to disabuse them of their imperialist attitudes and refocus on themselves.
Thank you for your kind words. I think it's important to take into account the fact that it didn't happen momentarily - I was speaking about this when I gave a talk at my uni when I was a student years ago (link in the end of the message). It doesn't take away the responsibility from russians though - they knew what was happening and they were ok with it. The vast majority of them had friends or relatives in Ukraine so they could easily check what was happening whatever they were being told by the federal media. One of my friend's grandmother who lives in Russia has not been picking up my friend's calls for weeks. https://twitter.com/cryptodrftng/status/1499207255484416002
I think the part that I still don't get is the notion that "tragedy and drama" as part of the war is beneficial. This is the part where infliction of war crimes and terror is part of their goals and necessary for denazification.
That's quite a conceptual leap from "being received with flowers" to "lets do horrible things". How in the world did that happen? Its not really a rational policy but more a rationalization for something they already want to do. The only thing I can think of is revenge. But for what?
As someone who’s been watching this unfold for years, I can explain all the issues to you.
1) About tragedy and drama: propaganda doesn’t work with facts. There are no facts that could justify what they are doing to us right now. Propaganda appeals to emotions. Hence all these stories about the "crucified boy" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crucified_boy) , “a parcel of land and two slaves” (https://www.stopfake.org/en/fake-ukrainian-militaries-are-promised-a-parcel-of-land-and-two-slaves) etc. russians are happy and overjoyed about what's happening to us right now. Almost no one there is feeling guilty. putin's approval rate has been skyrocketing.
2) As to “for what” . russian and belarussians are extremely different in terms of mentality as opposed to Ukrainians. Watch “Winter on Fire” on Netflix for a quick intro on that. It’s absolutely normal in russia or belarus to be detained and packed into a riot police van for a peaceful protest. When they tried to do that in Ukraine - they effectively tried to install a police state under russia’s supervision, Ukrainians were all angered to the point I can’t even explain and we overthrew that government very quickly. We are dignified people. Freedom is our core value that is protected by any means. Being a free person is more important than being alive to us. If I had to choose between living under russia's rule or die immediately, I would not hesitate for a single second. That life would simply not be a life to me, it's better not to exist than be a slave. That's not the view that russians and belarussians have.
3) As to other reasons why, I can list them forever, but I can also tell you one thing quickly. Last time I went to Ukraine was in summer last year, I was shocked by how much progress it had made over the two years I hadn’t been there due to the pandemic and other personal reasons. It was the most beautiful, flourishing place. putin could never allow for an example of a sovereign country that overthrew its violent government to exist and thrive next to russia - it would send a bad example to russian people. There is a bunch of other reasons but that was one of the key ones - we are being tortured, raped and killed for our courage to exist as a free, dignified nation.
P.S. Spelling of "russia", "belarus", "putin" etc with no capitalised letters is intentional.
The article by all means indeed has great resemblence with Mein Kampf. You change the word Ukrainians with Jews and it you could say that the reporter was inspired by hitler
It would be very difficult to remove Russia from the security Council in the current political climate. Unless one could isolate Russia from China then there would be no chance. To be honest any move in that direction would be vetoed by the Russians themselves. Perhaps we could get around their veto as they are the subjects of the resolution calling for their removal but even then China would be guaranteed to veto it instead. The rather perplexing position of India is also a stumbling block. I did write some comments a while back suggesting that perhaps we could rally the support necessary if we enlisted the non aligned nations by offering Russia's place to the Indians. (They are an up and coming super power and have nuclear weapons even if they do not yet have the necessary delivery systems to use them at the strategic level but it will not be long before India is demanding a place on the security council anyway. Why not then as Russia's replacement? Sadly India appears to have taken a neutral stance and even to a certain degree a pro Russian one. Surely refusing to condemn Russia and fully apply sanctions is pro Russian even if their intention is to be neutral. In short it is no accident that the 5 permanent members of the Security Council are those nations with independent strategic nuclear forces capable of striking anywhere on the planet...
Putin and Russia were suspended from the United Nations, and Putin then called in right after the affirmative vote to kick Russia out and quit the group knowing he was suspended and beat. the writing was on the wall for him. He could not save face once the United Nations voted against him.
That is not the UN that is the Human Rights Council of the UN (UNHCR) The Russians have been removed from that and it is a significant step but they still retain membership of the UN and more to the point a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
By all accounts Putin (who has not attended for the past 2 years and was not expected to attend this year) has cleared his schedule to allow him to attend the 18th G20 in New Delhi this September. He apparently has important issues to present. Primarily he wishes to discuss the no longer acceptable western hegemony over the world and his plan to alter the balance of power to reduce the domination of what he calls "Imperial America and her Subrodinates"
Thank you very much indeed for translating this abominable text! This is sick. For a German like me it is almost incomprehensible that intelligent persons willingly return to (or continue) the same type of thinking that has more than once caused so much horror and suffering. One can only hope -- both for the world and for the Russians themselves -- that Russia will have to cope with such a complete defeat that this type of fascism will be thoroughly discredited. Difficult to be an optimist here though.

Yes, thanks to translator. This sounds like a Nazi manifesto diatribe, and I shared it numerous times after it was shared with me. Truly disgusting, repulsive, and projection on the subject's(Putin's) part upon the Ukrainians, when really Putin and his minions are actually doing all of these things including kidnapping Ukrainians and taking them to Nazi like filtration camps in Russian. Russia is the aggressor invading their peaceful neighbours. I believe in shaming the devil, and that means sharing Putin's vile diatribe until sharing mediums are exhausted...

Yes, I am very unhappy with them indeed and wondering what to do. I have a feeling that generally the pressure is rising, so I hope they will take more energetic steps soon, but it is all going so slowly, it is a shame. It is absolutely clear that Germany could and should do much more! The latest German polls say:
Response of the 🇩🇪 government to the Russian invasion...
Write to them. Go to protests. Make sure they hear you - remember, they are your servants, not the other way around. They have to represent YOUR position. This is how democracy works. The politicians are your representatives. They have to do what you say.
Thank you for translating this. It took me a few tries to read it all the way through.
Shedding light on the darkest, most destructive choices (yes, these are choices) of those with concentrated money and power mixed with the sickest of desires has made this possible in a time when the previous century's biggest hurdles to quality of life had real solutions but not the will to enact.
This is DARVO. I am so sick of these cruel hateful manipulations of a warped reality/ sick fantasy that is running through recent history. Yes, the US government and dark money groups have been nurturing these deadly dangerous paranoid fantasies for decades & coming to a head these recent years. Yes, USA needs to perform LUSTRATION from cabinet level on down.
This was russian state-owned media. They were very open about their plans. The Royal United Services Institute published a plan according to which the russians expected to capture Ukraine within 10 days: https://twitter.com/cryptodrftng/status/1599058984975024130
The excuses for invasion apparently took years to write, but encircle a hole in the donut that has a shape. That shape is resistance to rule from Moscow. The excuses don't matter themselves. They simply outline the shape of what cannot openly be said. It wouldn't really matter whether they used the word Nazi, or the word "Trotskyite", or any of the other excuses that have been used in the last 100 years. The shape they outline is what the Moscow State Apparatus will not tolerate, and never really has, whenever they thought they did not have to.
The may call it "Rodina", as in "Mother Russia", but the Russian Earth was defined long ago.
Ultimately the defining words that matter are the words of a Russian Orthodox Prelate, in the years just after 1453A.D.:
"The First Rome is gone, The Second has fallen, The Third Rome shall rise, and there will be no other!"

In our lifetimes they will not be members of the international community.
I wish that was the case but Russia is still on the UN Security Council...
Russia was just voted out of the United Nations (UN), and removing him from the G-20 is the next step that is being worked on.
It was voted out of the Human Rights Council. That did not remove russia from the Security Council.

Remarkable parallels with German plans for Poland and the 'Slavs' in WW2. Truly chilling.

is Ukraine DAO connected with Open Society?
We haven't spoken to them. We focus on cooperating with Ukrainian/Ukrainian-run grassroots organisations. For example, we actively support Come Back Alive (https://savelife.in.ua/en/donate) and Mriya Aid (https://www.mriyaaid.org). I also regularly appear on Walter Report's Twitter Spaces (https://www.walterreport.com).
